why sikh wear kara in right hand only
It is believed that Guru Gobind Singh Ji prescribed a dress code for his KHALSA FAUJ (Khalsa army). Part of the dress code is KRHAA.
I am not aware of any writings of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, about wearing KRHA on the right arm. But if one is to assume logic behind, it is that the right hand was used to wield the sword and the right arm was exposed to being hit by enemy sword. So to provide protectionm to the right arm KRHAA is worn on the right arm. Remember left arm was protected by the shield held in the left hand.
There are many other madeup stories of why Sikhs even wear a KRHAA. To the best of my knowledge, none of them can be authenticated by any sources from the Vaisakhi 1699, or soon there after.
thanks ji
