To be Spiritual and stay connected to god, does one have to be an Amritari.
I always feel the ones that are amritari have some sort of pride and look down on others.
This is my personal view.

Gurus and Bhagats before Guru Gobind Singh gave Khande Bate Di Paul were spiritual and connected with God. Once you are connected with God through spiritual knowledge and wisdom of the Guru, you will realize that everyone is born a Sikh (Student) and with hair and take Khande Bate Di Pahul (Amrit). Those who are egoistic that they are Amritdhari don’t have reached that state of spirituality because spiritual people are humble, not proud.
AGGS 590
Se Gursikh Dhan Dhann Hai Jini Gur Updes Sunia Har Kanni || Gur Satgur Naam Dhriraeia Tin Haoumai Dubidha Bhani ||
Guru says blessed are those Gursikhs who, with their ears (consciousness), listen and acts on the Guru’s teachings; their egotism and duality goes away. Now Guru has distinguished Sikh from Gursikh. Sikh only listens to the teachings while Gursikh acts upon those teachings, lives life accordingly and abandon egotism and duality.
When we understand the meaning of AMRITDHARI the confusion is cleared. Gurbani says AMRIT HAR KA NAAM HAI meaning the universal truth, divine wisdom is AMRIT and whosoever internalize divine wisdom and become spiritually awakened is AMRITDHARI. Now that AMRITDHARI is the most humble and compassionate, does not look down on anybody. Then one become KHALSA WHEN ONE TAKE KHANDE DE PAHULFROM PANJ PIARAS. Hope this clarify further.
