Gurbani

Anonymous
Anonymous

Sat Shri Akal ji to everybody. I had a question about deeds. I have always learnt about how our deeds rule our lives and how we get paid for what we have sown in this life only. But there are so many cases on this world where kids are still born, or have Down syndrome. Kids with such disablities have to life a very difficult life but they were born this way. Thay had done no deeds to deserve this. Can someone explain me that why babaji would put a family and kid through so much pain in their lives when kid had no seeds sown of their deeds and my mother also told me that gurbani doesn’t believe in past life deeds.

Anonymousji answer to first part of your question is that we face consequences of our deeds here and now. We have choice to do good deeds or bad deeds but we have no control over the consequences we face. Guru says APE BEEJ APE HEE KHAH. Second part of your question why kids are born with serious disease, what bad deeds they have done. They have done nothing wrong and truth is God is not punishing them. There are many reasons for this happening.1 It may be genetic. 2 Kids are exposed to unhealthy environment. 3 Poor nutrition. 4 Pollution in the area. Please also note that Gurbani does not believe in Karma Theory. Hope this answer your question.

      Respected Brother/Sister,
Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh!

In response to your question, the undersigned wants to draw your attention to the fact that as per Gurbani, everything happens, as per divine law Please read the following Pauri and its meanings from the Vaar of Third Guru Person Guru Amardas Sahib, which is located at Pannas 508 to 524 of Guru Granth Sahib:-

      ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ਜਿਉ ਜਿਉ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਤਿਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਹੋਵਣਾ ॥ ਜਹ ਜਹ ਰਖਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਤਹ ਜਾਇ ਖੜੋਵਣਾ ॥ ਨਾਮ ਤੇਰੈ ਕੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਧੋਵਣਾ ॥ ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਭਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਖੋਵਣਾ ॥ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੇ ਜੋਨਿ ਨ ਜੋਵਣਾ ॥ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਇਕੁ ਨੈਣ ਅਲੋਵਣਾ ॥ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਰੋਵਣਾ ॥ ਨਾਉ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਖਸੀਸ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਪਰੋਵਣਾ ॥੧੮॥ {ਪੰਨਾ 523}

      ਅਰਥ: (ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਰਤਾਰਾ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਥੇ ਜਿਥੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਓਥੇ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵ) ਜਾ ਖਲੋਂਦੇ ਹਨ; ਜੋ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ (ਰਹਿੰਦੇ) ਹਨ ਉਹ ਭੈੜੀ ਮੱਤ ਧੋ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਹੇ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ! ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਤੇ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਏ ਜਾਂਦੇ, ਅੰਦਰ ਬਾਹਰ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਉਹ ਇਕ (ਤੈਨੂੰ ਹੀ) ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੇਖਦੇ ਹਨ।
      ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਕਦੇ ਪਛੁਤਾਂਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਦੇ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਸਗੋਂ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰੂਪ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀਸ਼ (ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰੋਈ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ।੧੮।

The Pauri makes it very clear that everything happened or will happen as per divine law.

      Further, as per teachings of Guru Granth Sahib, the birth and death happens in His Hukam. The Guru teaches us that ‘ਜੰਮਣੁ ਮਰਣਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ।। ।

Hope this helps. If you have any further questions, please do ask. If you find any deficiencies, please point out the same, for improvement in future.

      Regards,
      Your Brother

I am going to start with a reminder that Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s Father was executed when he was 9, Hi two elder son’s gained Martydom when Guru Sahib’s age was 38 years and two months, His younger sons and Grandmother gained Martydom 4 days after he turned 39. His grandfather was gone before Guru Sahib was born. Guru Gobind Saab himself left his world at the age of 42. yet Guru Sahib said ‘ Bhaana Meetha Laagey Tera’ and went on to create a world and environment that we live in today. So abiding by Gurbani does give you some strength and a path to follow.

Theres something written in Gurbani along the lines, you cannot choose your parents and child, but its the sins of past lives that put you through whatever difficulties and suffering you are going through.

THE THING IS Gurbani says that it can help you to live and rise among all the suffering and create and better conditions/world for your family and maybe end up doing something good for entire world. BUT you have to learn and realise the MEANING of Gurbani in Guru Granth Sahib like a book and not keep enchanting it like a ‘Mantar’ day and night.

You will suffer according to your past life, but you can change the course of this life and you can make sure to get a good one next when Jamdoot appears after your death. It also says you can completely get rid of the cycle of 84 lakhs joonis and become one with God if you follow Guru’s Hukam.

THIS is my personal take : People are categorized based on their deeds in a complex arrangement thats entangled with whom they are born to and meet all their life and also their circumstances too. People spend their whole lives either living in Hukam, be it their Parents/ Grandparents wisdom or simply rarely get to experience dark side of Humanity or circumstances, be it Sikh or not.

On the other hand People are born in worst conditions with miserable families doing bad deeds to each other and world, without realising God’s Hukam at all. They are among the ones on whom God doesn’t even shines his light on their whole lives, maybe at the end of their cycle when they are too old to do something about it and keep drowning in their past deeds.

Then there’s THIRD, who live among conditions good or bad but God shines his light on them atleast once in a life and it’s upto them to follow the path and seek the truth or not. This can literally make a difference of day and night of their lives as long as they live by Hukam.

Now you may ask what this ‘Hukam’ is , Sri Guru Nanak Sahib started explaining this in first baani of Guru Granth Sahib : Japji Sahib and rest is followed throughout Guru Granth Sahib.

I don’t want to strecth this way too long and don’t know how to end this either so… Take care. Do ask anything if you like….
