rahyad maryaada has chalked out a proper gurmat ardaas read samewhere in every gurdwara sahib at prescribed occasions every day
it has to be read by an individual after morning and evening nitnem . the ending para allows one to recite the purpose in brief

practically the creator knows every desire of each in this universe but fulfis in the way He likes and in reality it is best for us

Kaira Gupta Ji first we need to understand concept of God in Sikhism. God is not made of skin, muscle, blood like a living being. There is only one God for the entire universe in the form of spiritual knowledge, code of conduct, wisdom and Virtues. It does not live on another planet but as energy in every molecule and in the mind (Mann) of every individual in the form of Virtues. Such a God does not fulfill worldly desires but gives wisdom how to be contented with what you have and try honestly for whatever you need.

Prabh Chod Hor J Mangana Sabh Bikhia Ras Char ||
To forsake God, and ask for worldly desires is falsehood and sinful because they can never be satisfied.

Vin Tudh Hor J Mangana Sir Dukha Kai Dukh || Deh Naam Santokhia Otarai Mann Ki Bhukh ||
To ask for anything other than You, God is the most miserable of miseries. Please bless me with Your Virtues and make me contented; may the hunger of my mind (Mann) of worldly desires be satisfied.

Mangana Tan Sach Ek Jis Tus Devai Aap || Jit Khadhai Mann Tripatiai Nanak Sahib Dat ||2||
We should ask from God, wisdom to live truthful life. With that all worldly desires will be under control and mind (Mann) will be contented.
