We often hear people saying they visted different places of worship to get their wishes granted or fulfilled.
How important is this in Sikhism to visit different religious places?

The answer to your question is in the text of SGGSJI. GURBANI says TEERATH NAWAN JAO TEERATH NAAM HAI. TEERATH SHABAD VICHAR UNTAR GIAN HAI (PAGE 687) meaning the sacred shrine of pilgrimage is meditation and contemplation on divine wisdom, SHABAD. Understanding and living the teachings of SGGSJI is real TEERATH NAWAN. Yes one should visit religious places but only with the purpose of gaining divine wisdom, nothing else.
