Is reciting any bani a certain number of times the right practice?
The simple answer is No,
There is no such reference in Gurbani enshrined in Guru Granth Sahib.
Once again the question is referencing to the wishes. Gurbani is addressing one’s spiritual wishes and not material wishes. Being one with the ੴ (IKKO, The One).
As per Gurbani only love of ੴ (IKKO, The one) and living in accordance with the HUKAM can achieve one’s spiritual wishes. It is not how many times or days one performs certainly activity; it is how one lives one’s life.
ਤੂੰ ਗਣਤੈ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਓ ਸਚੇ ਅਲਖ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
(No one has achieved union with you, one’s wish, by counting number of deeds)
