Putting Guru Granth to sleep every night is superstition, or is there a scientific reason for that?

Respected Amanpreet Kaur Ji;
Thank you for asking that question.
I am unaware of any such ritual mentioned in Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
Though Sikhs believe in Gurbani enshrined in Sri Gur Granth Sahib as the living Guru. For that reason, the physical housing of Gurbani, Sri Guru Granth Sahib, is highly respected. Some people treat it like a human body.
Part of Sikhi is to start one’s day with reading from Sri Guru Granth Sahib and end one’s day with reading from Sri Guru Granth Sahib as well. But this has been made into a ritual by the current clergy.
Looking at it from practical point of view, any Granth Sahib (large size book) for its longevity, is best kept closed, and opened when needed for reading. Look at the normal books, one always keeps them closed and securely placed. That is exactly the case with Guru Granth Sahib ji.
The following Shabad clearly describes that Guru is always with me.
Then how can the Guru sleep any time. Guru gives us enlightenment, hence always living Guru.
These customs are for our own functioning and convenience.
We have also to take care of the safety and preservation of Guru Granth Sahib.
