PRAY BEADS/MALA

Some Sikhs use small or larger size pray beads like a Rosary used by Christians.
What is the purpose of using these beads or Mala?

      In Sikhi, the use of Mala is just a useless activity.
      In SIkhi deeds/activities count and not verbal utterances. Either a person is good or he is not. It is not part time good and rest of the time not good.

      And counting does not work with the ੴ .
      ਪਉੜੀ ॥
      ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਉਪਾਇ ਕੈ ਵਸਿ ਆਪਣੈ ਕੀਤਾ ॥
      ਗਣਤੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਰਮੀਤਾ ॥
