In older times, before the advent of bulbs, jot, diyas, or lamps were used to lighten the night.
Hence the jots were there in Gurdwaras also.
Electricity was introduced in Gurdwaras during early 20th century, jots remained at many places as a traditional aspect.
Jot in gurdwara has no religious significance. But people can often be seen doing fake rituals around jots. This is against gurmat.
