My question is what is our stance, on the topic of evolution?
ਮੈਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ, ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮੰਡ, ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮੰਡ ਕਈ, ਕਈ ਯੁਗਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਹੋਂਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ।
ਮੈਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਜੋ ਚਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਖੇਲ ਹੈ।
ਪਰ ਕੀ ਸਿੱਖੀ Evolution ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਦੀ ਹੈ?
ਮੇਰਾ ਸਵਾਲ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ Evolution ਦੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ‘ਤੇ ਸਾਡਾ ਰੁਖ ਕੀ ਹੈ?

Sikhism and science align very well. According to science life originated in water. Here is a quote from Gurbani
ਸਾਚੇ ਤੇ ਪਵਨਾ ਭਇਆ ਪਵਨੈ ਤੇ ਜਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
From the True Lord came the air, and from the air came water.
ਜਲ ਤੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣੁ ਸਾਜਿਆ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮੋਇ ॥
From the water, He created the three worlds; in each and every heart He has infused His Light.
The field of biology explains the diversity of the biological world by Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution. According to this theory, we have a common ancestor and we have gone through many stages and have evolved into the most complex form of life, human beings. Here is a reference from Gurbani on Ank 176.
ਕਈ ਜਨਮ ਭਏ ਕੀਟ ਪਤੰਗਾ ॥
In so many incarnations, you were a worm and an insect;
ਕਈ ਜਨਮ ਗਜ ਮੀਨ ਕੁਰੰਗਾ ॥
in so many incarnations, you were an elephant, a fish and a deer.
