My father always keeps the live radio of Darbar Sahib playing in his bedroom, and my mother keeps Sukhmani Sahib playing on repeat in the kitchen. My question is: is it okay to keep Gurbani playing in the house even if no one is listening?

The undersigned is of the opinion that listening to Gurbani is one thing. The need is to listen to the Gurbani attentively and change one’s life, as per teachings of Guru Granth Sahib.
Guru Granth Sahib teaches us:
ਕਹਤ ਸੁਣਤ ਸਭੇ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮਾਨਤ ਪਾਹਿ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ॥੪॥੪॥ {ਪੰਨਾ 797}
Gurbani should be listened very carefully and with lots of love. It is important to understand the message of Gurbani and apply it in one’s life. Gurbani does not believe in any miracles.
according to me, this could be coz of few things:
1. this may bring them calmness and peace like some of our favourite songs give us.
2. They may have OCD that if they don’t play it, it may harm their personal/family life.
3. Could be habit they picked up from their childhood.
but no, there is no point if nobody is listening.
it’s like a teacher giving a lesson in an empty classroom.
