After cremation, ashes are to be disposed of somewhere. It can be in a flowing river or even buried in the ground. Disposal of dead body and ashes are of no importance in Gurmat.

If a corpse is anointed with sandalwood oil, what good does it do? If a corpse is rolled in filth, what does it lose from this? Kabir says, I proclaim this out loud and clear, behold, and understand, you ignorant, faithless cynic, the love of duality has ruined countless homes. The God’s devotees are forever in bliss.

Gurmat is against dressing dead body in new expensive clothes, offering shawls, money and expensive casket and disposing of ashes in a particular place like Patalpuri.
