I do kirtan in Gurudwara sahib since my childhood. Since then i have met different type of sangat. And sangat and other kirtaniya knows each other. I am not amritdhari due to some reasons. I do kirtan with the same sangat on naam Simran but when it is called akj kirtan i am not allowed as per it is against akj rules. Is kirtan only allowed in bana according to sikh rahetnama? Because i do not understand the difference between kirtan and akj kirtan.

Respected Brother/Sister,
Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh!
In ‘Sikh Rehat Maryada’, which you can read by clicking on the link below, it is laid down that in Sangat only a Sikh can perform Kirtan:-

There are some other conditions but it is not laid down that only Amritdhari Sikhs can perform Kirtan in Sangat.
Though Akhand Kirtani Jatha (AKJ) says that it was set up Bhai Randhir Singh but Bhai Sahib himself has written in one of his books that he has not set up any Jatha. They have made their own rules, which are not in line with ‘Sikh Rehat Maryada’. Perhaps, nothing can be done about it. So, please don’t bother about what they are doing.
The more important thing is to change one’s life, as per teachings of Guru Granth Sahib, and by getting rid of vices become Jeevan Mukat as in Sikhi there is no concept of Mukati after death. If you have any further questions please do ask.
Regards,
Your Brother
