When we do not take the medicine as prescribed by the doctor, then how can we expect to get cured.
Same is the situation as far as Simran, Path, Sewa and Kirtan are concerned.

We have made our own definitions for all of them, which are not according to Guru Granth Sahib.

Simran is the remembering of Akal Purkh all the time with the help of Gurbani and not the ritual recitation of some particular word.

Path is for studying and understanding the Gurbani and not completing some formalities.

Sewa is, “Gur Ke Sewa Shabad Vichar”.
We have to analyse and do research on Gurbani for deeper understanding.

Kirtan is not the singing on harmonium.
But to sing, recite, know, understand, and follow the qualities of Akal Purkh with the help of Gurbani, so that we can get enlightenment to judge, what is write or wrong.

Once we start following the guidelines of Guru Granth Sahib, we will automatically become closer to Akal Purkh with the help of Gurbani and will start leading a happy and contented life.

Very good question. People do all these as rituals without understanding and applying the spiritual knowledge from Gurbani to everyday life. Guru says
AGGS 1372
Kabira Jeha Giyan Teh Dharam Hai Jeha Jhuth Teh Pap || Jeha Lobh Teh Kal Hai Jeha Khima Teh Aap ||155||
Bhagat Kabir says, where there is spiritual wisdom, there is righteousness (Dharm). Where there is falsehood, there is sin. Where there is greed, there is spiritual death. Where there is forgiveness, there is God. Bhagat Kabir is saying that spiritual wisdom is Dharam.
      ਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਜਨੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਧੇਰ ਬਿਨਾਸੁ ॥ AGGS 293
Giyan Anjan Gur Dia Agiyan Andher Binas ||
The Guru gives the light of spiritual knowledge and wisdom, which dispel the darkness of ignorance.

      ਸਿਖੀ ਸਿਖਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥ AGGS 465
      Sikhi Sikhia Gur Vichar ||
Sikh gets spiritual knowledge and wisdom by contemplating on the teachings of the Guru (Bani).
So one needs to contemplate on the teachings rather do it as daily ritual.

Gurbani needs to be comprehended at a deeper level only then the state of bliss can be felt. Gurbani teaches us contentment. Gurbani broadens our viewpoint and let us see our blessings in disguise. Gurbani makes us accept sadness and happiness alike as both are a part of the Hukam ( laws of nature). If Gurbani is recited as a ritual then the state of sukh dukh is mann ki birtha tujh hi aage sare, cannot be achieved.

      Very good Question!

If Reading, listening, undrstanding Gurbani or Gurbani Keertan haven’t made a dent in us, we are not connected to Gur Shabd. Ritual will not take us anywhere. Sahib Singh Ji you aren’t alone in this situation

In the begining, It takes a lot of time to concentrate and understand the meaning of the Shabd. To understand the bhav meaning, I would suggest you down load the Guru Granth Darpan by Prof. Sahib Singh

Start from JUP Bani try to understand the attributes of our Creator 1ਓ. Try to undersand one Pauree every day. The Creator is within it’s creation not outside, in other words Akaal Purkh is within us and we have to realize within with Gurbani. Slowly and steadily you will start liking Gurbani. The day will come when your love with Gurbani will become so immense. Waheguru Bliss!

All Scholar have given wonderful views ????

Our predicament is …….. that we have blundered in learning the correct meanings of these five very important words quoted by my Veer Sahib Singh, thereafter, snowballing our blundering in extracting the true meanings of the Sabads of Gurbani, starting from the Page One itself !!

Incidentally, we already have the remedy to salvage the present situation.
