I live with my family in Australia. My wife’s family is in India, most of her loved ones don’t have much money.

If we send money, then when they need it, would this be considered dasvandh?

      In my perspective, we should try to help anybody who needs help in whatever way we can do ( maybe related or not related to us) as we all belong to the family of the same creator. The practice of Dasvandh is to inculcate the virtue of sharing in us.

      What is Dasvandh?? How it came about?? What is included in it or not?? IkOnkar humanity and IkOnkar Hukam, what do your family think it is and how it relates to Dasvandh?? Can you just help IkOnkar humanity without thinking of Dasvandh?? Please do your self realization with your wife and family. What is your family needs and wants, have they been meet??
      I live in Canada and I know my extended family in India , think I have a lot of money and they keep asking , I am comfortable but I don’t have much to give but I try to help, but I want them to be independent and work hard and don’t get easy money from me, but they keep asking for money and I have learned to say NO.
      My suggestion is make a sound family decision and keep your wife happy and please keep religion out of it.

      Any type of help which can be in form of money, kind or in any other way which benefits someone, can be considered as Daswand. There is no harm in helping the close relatives. In fact it is our duty to help them to raise their financial and spiritual level. Please go ahead in helping them financially and also to stand on their feet.
