I have heard elders talk about how the younger generation is not interested in Sikhism. What can we do to change this?

Respected Kirandeep Kaur Ji what a wonderful question.
I am unable to find an answer to this question in Guru Granth Sahib Bani.
Sikhs are definitely concerned about the next generation, nay even current generation slipping away form Sikhi.
It appears that the current generation and then the next generation never had the opportunity to learn why it is important for anyone to be a Sikh? What is in it for them?
There is an effort underway to address exactly that question. All those who wish to take part in that effort, are welcome to volunteer at Sikhwisdom.org.
ਪ੍ਰਥਮੇ ਮਨੁ ਪਰਬੋਧੈ ਅਪਨਾ ਪਾਛੈ ਅਵਰ ਰੀਝਾਵੈ ॥ – 381
Younger generation do not understand and follow Gurmat, because most of us do not understand and follow Guru Granth Sahib.
Mostly people think that if they have done some rituals and donations, their job is done.
Our organizations are mostly busy in their own interests. The media propaganda is highly confusing and misleading.
Only alternative is to put our own efforts. Share with each other based on Guru Granth Sahib.
ਆਪਣ ਹਥੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਕਾਜੁ ਸਵਾਰੀਐ ॥੨੦॥ – 474
This will help us to understand the modern and scientific aspects of Guru Granth Sahib. Which in turn will automatically convince the younger generation to adopt the Sikh way of life.
