Respected Brother/Sister,
Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh!
In response to your question about becoming God’s favourite, the undersigned wants to say that in Sikhism, the need is to first understand the basic principle taught by Guru Granth Sahib and live life accordingly.
Guru Granth Sahib teaches this principle, in the very first Pauri of Jap Baani, that one should become a righteous/virtuous person and always remain in His Hukam (Divine Will).
This goal was laid down by the First Guru Person, Guru Nanak Sahib, when, in the first Pauri of Jap Baani, he said:-
Therefore, one needs to follow this principle and live a purposeful life.
The Ninth Guru Person, Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib, in a Salok at Panna 1427 of Guru Granth Sahib teaches as under:
Guru Sahib is teaching in this Salok that their is no difference between Akalpurakh (God) and that person, who remains one with Him i.e. one becomes His favourite .
Therefore , the need is get rid of vices, become a righteous/ virtuous person (Gurmukh), live life as per Divine Will (Hukam), become one with Akalpurakh and Shabad Guru, who are spiritually embodiment of each other and reach the stage of spiritual equipoise (ਆਤਮਿਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ) and spiritual bliss (ਆਤਮਿਕ ਆਨੰਦ). The final goal is to achieve spiritual emancipation/salvation in this life itself
Hope it helps. If you have any further questions, please do ask. If you find any deficiencies, please point out the same, for improvement in future.
Regards,
Your brother
