Respected Sister Simmi Singh ji,
Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh!
The Third Person Guru Amardas Sahib stayed in Goindval, near Tarantaran, for 33 years where he established a new centre for preaching Sikhism.
A Baoli (stepwell), paved with 84 steps was constructed there. A myth was created by the people that by reciting Jap Bani, at each of the 84 steps, after taking a bath in the Baoli, provides liberation from the cycle of rebirths (84 ਲਖ ਜੂਨਾਂ), after death, and one achieves salvation.
This myth has no meaning, as Gurbani shows the way for salvation in this life time itself
(ਜੀਵਨ ਮੁਕਤ), by changing one’s life, as per teachings of Guru Granth Sahib and getting rid of vices. The salvation after death is not a Concept of Sikhism but of Hinduism.
Goindval is where Fourth Guru Person Guru Ramdas Sahib met Guru Amardas Sahib and also Fifth Guru Person Guru Arjan Sahib was born on 15 April 1563.
Hope it helps. If you have any further questions, please do ask. If you find any deficiencies, please point out the same, for improvement in future.
Regards,
Your Brother
