Hi, I am a white Australian. I find myself drawn to the religion of Sikhism and its teachings.

I have read that there is no formal ceremony to convert. How can I be a great Sikh?

I would certainly appreciate any advice.

      The most important is to understand the Sikh scripture, Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, and live your life according to the doctrines of the Sikh scripture.

      First of all congratulations on the decision of your conscience.
      Anyone can be a Sikh as Sikhi is for the entire humanity. A person is a Sikh from the moment he/she has committed his/her living to the wisdom of Shabad-Guru as enshrined in Guru Granth Sahib (https://khojgurbani.com/shabad/1/1). Contemplation on Gurbani is the key to remaining continuously involved in the Sikh way of living.
      Sikh religion upholds family values and responsibility towards society on high priority. Hence, you must find nearby Gurdwara where you can connect with the local Sangat (congregation). You can also connect with some online Gurbani discussion groups. You can also learn Punjabi or Gurumukhi (https://www.jeevanjaach.com/).
      There is a formal ceremony, called Khande Di Pahul or Amrit Sanchar. This again depends on your decision after you are totally involved. Wish you all the best.

      Hi Sir if you are feeling attraction towards Sikhism you may be a great Sikh.Hair are natural gift adopted by Sikhism.So don’t cut your hair.Take human race as one. Gurbani inspire brotherhood of mankind.Sikh History Gurbani and guru sahib Ji’s life centered on these points.Learn some history and Gurbani which will be very enthusiastic to maintain your state of mind towards one GOD and zeal to serve mankind and you will feel blessed day by day.Your intention shows that you will be a great sikh one day.

      Anyone can follow the teachings of Guru Granth Sahib. There is no restriction for any person of any caste, creed or religion. Guru Granth Sahib teaches the message of universal brotherhood.

      Education is utmost important for every stage of life. Not only education, research (Vichar) is very important.

      Please learn the Gurmukhi alphabet and start reading some sentences. This you can learn within a week if you are the beginner.
      Then you can then start studying Gurbani with meaning with the help of someone.
