      The simple answer is No,

There is no such reference  in Gurbani enshrined in Guru Granth Sahib.

Going to Gurduara for any number of times does not fulfill one’s wishes. Just look around see all  the Bhai Sahibs going to Gurduara daily or even live there, and ask yourself, are their wishes fulfilled?

Gurbani is addressing one’s spiritual wishes and not material wishes. Being one with the ੴ (IKKO, The One).

As per Gurbani only love of ੴ  (IKKO, The one) can achieve one’s spiritual wishes.  It is not how many times or days one performs certainly activity; it is how one lives one’s life.

      ਤੂੰ ਗਣਤੈ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਓ ਸਚੇ ਅਲਖ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥

(No one has achieved union with you, one’s wish, by counting number of deeds)

This system of 40-day is common in Hindus and Islam. The Sikhs are following their rituals rather than following Sikhi of Guru Nanak.

      Sikhi Sikhia but vichar.

        No not at all.

However, it keeps one focused on the particular issue which may accrue some positive results if possible.
This ritual, though a deal with the ੴ ਏਕੰਕਾਰੁ , actually helps the management to earn for those 40 days, and sometimes get a bonanza if the devotee gets satisfied with the outcome after 40 days !!

this ritual of Chileeya Katana has probably emanated from Islamic practices who also keep Roza for 40 days.
