Respected Aman ji,
Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh!
In reply to your question, the undersigned wants to say that in his discussion with yogis, the First Guru Person, Guru Nanak Sahib had made it clear that his Guru was Shabad when he said:-
The Third Guru Person, Guru Amardas Sahib, goes one step further in describing Gurbani, the Shabad, the Divine Word, as the embodiment of the Truth, the embodiment of God Himself:
Further, The Fourth Guru Person, Guru Ramdas Sahib guides us:-
The Fifth Guru Person, Guru Arjan Sahib, reiterates the message of the First Nanak that whatever is written in Gurbani, the message of the Shabad Guru, is not from the Guru himself but it is direct from Akalpurakh:
If one still has a doubt whether Guru Granth Sahib is mere a Book, then Fifth Guru Person, Guru Arjan Sahib guides us:
In other words, Guru Sahib is teaching us that Guru Granth Sahib is not just a Book, but is the abode of God.
Hope it helps. If you have any further questions, please do ask. If you find any deficiencies, please point out the same, for improvement in future.
Regards,
Your Brother
—————————
ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਣੈ ਜੋਗੁ ॥ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਹੈ ਭੀ ਹੋਗੁ ॥ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਇਹੈ ਜਨਾਈ ॥ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਭਾਈ ॥੪॥੫॥੭॥ {ਪੰਨਾ 864}
Not in literal way like Allah spoke to Muhammad Sahab, or God spoke to David/Jesus/Abraham.
According to my understanding,
All Guru Sahiban guide us that there is part of the Almighty, The One, The ever-present ( a vibration) in everyone of us, which makes us do things and make things happen, in this case, come up with blissful prayers and praises of GOD himself.
in Punjabi there’s term called ਆਮਦ, when thoughts just occur to you when you are too much invested in something. You often hear poets, lyricists talk about it like Dr. Satinder Sartaj.
So as per my understanding, as Guru Sahiban were always thinking about the wonders of the God and his creations, so these Gurbani shabad that they created, they may have meant as ਆਮਦ rather than speaking directly to God.
Hope I have not complicated it too much….
