Respected Anonymous ji
No, Gurmat does not approve of this thing.
(SGGS JI, P:332)
It means that we do not serve our parents while they are alive; after their death, we do Sharadh for them. This is absolutely arbitrary. Serve your parents and your elders while they are alive. Such rituals (Sharadh) are not at all acceptable in Gurmat
Dear Brother/Sister,
Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh!
Respected Scholar Sister Mandeep Kaur ji has given a very beautiful and brief reply to your question.
There is no place for sharadh in Gurdwara Sahib as Guru Granth Sahib does not subscribe to this ritual. Please be kind to see reply to a question answered on 15th September, 2022, under the heading ‘Days of Sharadh’. There is also a small video for you to see.
Regards,,
Your Brother
