Heaven and hell are states of mind or simply your lifestyle, character and personality that determine your mental state.

It is true that many Sikhs believe in Heaven and Hell, but Sikhi (Gurbani) does not.
Gurbani does give reference to not only Swarg and Nark as popularized by the Brahmanical faith but also of Bahisht and Dojak as per Islamic faith. But due to the Brahmanical tilt of our interpretations, many Sikhs believe in Brahmanical re-birth, but not in Islamic kyaamat (resurrection). Whereas the use of the terms in Gurbani is only for reference purposes. Gurbani, a number of times, discards the imaginary concepts of re-birth and that of kyaamat. Gurbani gives a unique concept of ‘Jeevan Mukt’ which is free from Heaven, Hell, re-birth, or resurrection. ‘Jeevan Mukt’ in itself is a powerful concept that talks of this present life and rejects all other mythical beliefs.

      Yes,
Hell and Heaven do exist, BUT Gursikhs don’t bother about getting into any of them. Liberation / Getting united with God is the objective of Gursikhs. Upon liberation, everything destroys,(all accounts are closed) ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਦਰਿ ਕਾਗਦ ਫਾਰੇ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਲੇਖਾ ਸਮਝਾ, you lose your identity and get assimilated into God. So, the question of getting into heaven or hell is meaningless for saints.
Hell is Heaven is not valid for Saints, i.e ONLY AFTER LIBERATION, but those who aren’t liberated yet still carries the Karma, and Heaven and Hell exist till then.
Meaning: Saints reject “DISCUSSING/UNDERSTANDING” Heaven or Hell.
      Again Yes! Hell exists

I agree with other answers that Gurmat does not believe in hell and heaven after death.
AGGS 969
Kavan Narak Kia Surag Bichara Santan Dou Radhey || Ham Kahu Ki Kan N Kadtate Apne Gur Parsade ||5||
Ab Tao Jae Chadte Singhasan Milae Hai Saringpani || Ram Kabira Ek Bhae Hai Koe N Sakai Pachani ||6||3||
The Guru (Sant) rejects both hell and heaven. By the Grace of my Guru I have no obligation to either of them. By the grace of the Guru (Guru’s spiritual teachings and wisdom) I am now truthful in my life. The God and Kabir have become one. No one can tell them apart.
Heaven is now while living when I live a life of Sachiare (Truthful) and hell when I am engrossed in Maya (Kam, Krodh, Lobh, Moh, Ahankar).

As per Gurbani, people talk about heaven and hell. BUt who knows where they are. Implying it is all made up stuff and no one hase gone there and come back to tell about it.

      ( Page:

Guru Granth Sahb BANI furhter states that heaven is right here in company of BHAGATS.

Heaven and hell are human created assumptions, not fact, to exploit common people. The religious cheaters use as reward of heaven and punishment in hell to loot congregations. Gurbani says you are in heaven when one with truth and in hell when separated from truth here and now.
