      Bhagats whose Bani is in Guru Granth Sahib were born before Gurus. Guru is not a person in Gurmat but Shabd as per reply of Guru Nanak to Sidhs who asked who is your Guru.

      Guru Nanak replied the source of my spiritual life and belief is Creator’s Virtues. The source of enlightenment (Guru) is the Shabd (Giyan) and my conscious mind (Mann) is disciple of instructions in the Shabd (Giyan).
