Dating in Sikhism

Is it forbidden to date in Sikhism?
Finding a good life partner is challenging so is dating ok?
My strict Sikh friend doesn’t think it’s right.

      Dating is not the proper way of judging the partner.

      ਏਕਾ ਨਾਰੀ ਜਤੀ ਹੋਇ ਪਰ ਨਾਰੀ ਧੀ ਭੈਣ ਵਖਾਣੈ।

      Young children under the influence of Kaam can not judge the partner properly.
      Best is to observe, interact, and take the guidence of elders before arriving at any conclusion.
