Dandaut meaning prostration on the ground.
I have seen people on rare occasions who lie down and give Salutation.
Is this a common practice in Sikhism?
What does the Bani teach us?
Dandaut

kar sadhu anjuli pun wadha hai
kar danduat pun wadha hai saying of Guru Ramdas Sahib ji
it means sacrifice all your body, mind and thoughts to that Almighty and abide to His will
ਸੀਸਿ ਨਿਵਾਇਐ ਕਿਆ ਥੀਐ ਜਾ ਰਿਦੈ ਕੁਸੁਧੇ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੧॥- 470
Guru Granth Sahib teaches us that there is no use of bowing, if we are not following the teachings of Gurbani and are just doing the rituals only.
Sikhism does not advise for any such physical practices of Dandaut etc.
Purpose is to understand the Hukam of the Akal Purkh and try to become Sachyaar (Truthfull) person.
