Dear Respected scholars
what can we do or Say to the younger generation especially young men who cut their hair to go aboard or to get a job?
It’s great to see so many successful males especially who having wonderful jobs and still wear their Turban day today.
But it’s sad when they use this as an excuse to cut their hair and say I couldn’t find a job?

Dear Anni K ji
Waheguru ji (Creator) has reason for everything created in a specific manner. if male have hair on face or we all have long hairs it should be that way. Like peacock has beautiful feathers whereas other birds don’t have them which makes them unique so our hairs and Turban(our Crown) makes us unique. One should not try to become something else to please others and loose own identity. We have various examples of full beard and Turbaned Sikhs at prestigious positions aa well as successful in professional life’s.
The only thing that can motivate youngsters to keep kesh and wear turban is knowledge and clarity of concepts. They often struggle to justify why they should keep kesh and wear turban.
The worst part is Sikhs don’t know the real logic behind kesh, and they have been propagating wrong theories for so long that It is very difficult now to correct them. They have been motivating us by saying keeping kesh means acceptance of hukam, living natural and so on. This makes no sense in the modern world.
Going by the concept of naturalism and hukam, we should not accept vaccines, right?
This naturalism is contradictory to the modern world, so mordern sikhs are rejecting Kesh. The only fault is the wrong explanation.
Solutions: We need to do some research and discussions on this issue and bring out some sensible reasoning.
I would like to share my personal understanding/reasoning behind keeping Kesh:
Sikhi has two aspects:
1. Peeri : Spiritual Aspects >>First 5 Gurus worked on this>> SGGS is our spiritual guide today!
2. Meeri : Social Aspects >>Last 5 Human Gurus worked on this>> 5 Pyaare are supposed to guide is on social aspects now ! (Guru Gobind Singh became Chella of 5 pyaare and gave them the authority to make decisions, except 4 Bajjar kurahaits, also established 5 takhats for them)
Now coming to the concept of Kesh:
Please note that, in my understanding, the word Kesh refers to the Hair on the head, not elsewhere. This can be easily concluded from SGGS, where Kesh and Dhaadi are two separate words, used separately. Beard is not a part of kesh, we kept beard culturally. Please note that earlier Hindus used to keep beards as well as they used to wear a turban culturally.
Now see How important Kesh is from spiritual prospects (SGGS)
>>Kesh has nothing to do with Peere, Spiritual Aspects as per the following verse.
(either you grow it long, or shave it completely)
Clearly, the concept/Reasoning of Kesh should come from Meere aspects, because it is not important for peere and secondly It was mandated by Guru Gobind Sikh ji during the establishment of khalsa (Meere).
To my understanding, Kesh is given to ensure Khalsa doesn’t become opportunistic.
