Why are Sikhs cremated not buried?
The Sikhi believes in the physical death as end of this physical life.
At end of this physical life, Sikhi believes that the air mixes into the air, light/life goes back into its source, the physical body disintegrates into its component elements.
Therefor in Sikhi the body respectfully disposed of generally cremated.
Sikhi unlike some other faiths, does not believe in day of judgement, when all the dead will rise from their grave. Therefore, in Sikhi there is no need to store (burry) the body and wait for it rise up again.
