      In reply to your question ‘How can one develop a mindset of courage and fearlessness in Sikhism’, the undersigned wants to say that biggest fear in human mind is that of physical death which has to come to everyone. The Guru teaches us that ‘เจœเฉฐเจฎเจฃเฉ เจฎเจฐเจฃเจพ เจนเฉเจ•เจฎเฉ เจนเฉˆ เจญเจพเจฃเฉˆ เจ†เจตเฉˆ เจœเจพเจ‡เฅคเฅค means เจœเฉ€เจตเจพเจ‚ เจฆเจพ เจœเฉฐเจฎเจฃเจพ เจฎเจฐเจจเจพ เจชเฉเจฐเจญเฉ‚ เจฆเจพ เจนเฉเจ•เจฎ เจนเฉˆ, เจชเฉเจฐเจญเฉ‚ เจฆเฉ€ เจฐเจœเจผเจพ เจตเจฟเจš เจนเฉ€ เจœเฉ€เจต เจœเฉฐเจฎเจฆเจพ เจคเฉ‡ เจฎเจฐเจฆเจพ เจนเฉˆเฅคเฅค’ The Guru, however, teaches us to rise above the fright of physical death and become courageous and fearless.

      Please be kind to read the following stanza from a Shabad of Kabir ji at Panna 654 of Guru Granth Sahib, in which he is guiding us to rise above the fright of death:-

      เจชเจฐเจฟเจ“ เจ•เจพเจฒเฉ เจธเจญเฉˆ เจœเจ— เจŠเจชเจฐ เจฎเจพเจนเจฟ เจฒเจฟเจ–เฉ‡ เจญเฉเจฐเจฎ เจ—เจฟเจ†เจจเฉ€ เฅฅ เจ•เจนเฉ เจ•เจฌเฉ€เจฐ เจœเจจ เจญเจ เจ–เจพเจฒเจธเฉ‡ เจชเฉเจฐเฉ‡เจฎ เจญเจ—เจคเจฟ เจœเจฟเจน เจœเจพเจจเฉ€ เฅฅเฉชเฅฅเฉฉเฅฅ {เจชเฉฐเจจเจพ 654}
      เจ…เจฐเจฅ: เจธเจพเจฐเฉ‡ เจœเจ—เจค เจ‰เฉฑเจคเฉ‡ เจ•เจพเจฒ เจฆเจพ เจธเจนเจฟเจฎ เจชเจฟเจ† เจนเฉ‹เจ‡เจ† เจนเฉˆ, เจญเจฐเจฎเฉ€ เจ—เจฟเจ†เจจเฉ€ เจญเฉ€ เจ‰เจธเฉ‡ เจนเฉ€ เจฒเฉ‡เจ–เฉ‡ เจตเจฟเจš เจฒเจฟเจ–เฉ‡ เจ—เจ เจนเจจ (เจ‰เจน เจญเฉ€ เจฎเฉŒเจค เจฆเฉ‡ เจธเจนเจฟเจฎ เจตเจฟเจš เจนเฉ€ เจนเจจ) เฅค เจนเฉ‡ เจ•เจฌเฉ€เจฐ! เจ†เจ–-เจœเจฟเจจเฉเจนเจพเจ‚ เจฎเจจเฉเฉฑเจ–เจพเจ‚ เจจเฉ‡ เจชเฉเจฐเฉ‡เจฎเจพ-เจญเจ—เจคเฉ€ เจ•เจฐเจจเฉ€ เจธเจฎเจ เจฒเจˆ เจนเฉˆ เจ‰เจน (เจฎเฉŒเจค เจฆเฉ‡ เจธเจนเจฟเจฎ เจคเฉ‹เจ‚) เจ†เจœเจผเจพเจฆ เจนเฉ‹ เจ—เจ เจนเจจเฅคเฉชเฅคเฉฉเฅค

      The Sikh, who is a student, by imbibing the teachings of Guru Granth Sahib, has to rise above the fright of death and become a Khalsa i.e. Akalpurakh’s own. Perhaps, you would be aware that Khalsa is a Persian word, which means King’s own land.

      Once the Sikh become Akalpurakh’s own then Akalpurakh will always be with him and he will not do anything which will lead to his spiritual death. In a way, the Sikh has to live a disciplined life, as per teachings of Guru Granth Sahib and never die a spiritual death.

      So, as understood by the undersigned, as per the Gurbani, this is the way one can be become courageous and fearless. This is what the Sahibzadas and other martyrs achieved and laid down their lives but didn’t die a spiritual death. This is how they became immortal, for all times to come (เจ…เจฎเจฐโ€Œ เจนเฉ‹ เจ—เจ).

      Hope it helps. If you have any further questions, please do ask. If you find any deficiencies please point out the same, for improvement in future.

      Regards,
      Your Brother
