Sorry I need to clarify this issue. Let us be logical, realist and practical. Gurbani completely reject all life after death theories and myths. Fact is in Gurbani metaphor, parables and accepted beliefs of the time have been used but to explain spiritual philosophy of SGGS. 8.4 million Joona is quated frequently to emphasize that as humans we are animals in our actions and behaviour here and now. Guru says Bin Sinran Jo Jiwan Balna Sarap Jaime Arjaee meaning those who are ignorant of truth, reality and are living life full of vices, evil thoughts are infact animals in human skin here and now. Guru Arjunji on page 176 says Kaee Janam Sail Gir Karin. Literal meaning ,for many lives you lived as Mountain Rocks. Now is Mountain Rock a Joon or life. Guruji is using metaphor to illustrate O Man you are living life as stone hearted, full of hatred and anger Pathar Dil . Gurbani all about living in the present. It is serious mistake to interpret Gurbani literally.

Yes, there are many a references to 84 Lakh count. However as best as I know they are only to refer to a large enough number beyond the comprehension of a common man. And also to refer to a familiar number to convey the message at hand.

      However Gur Sahibalso writes:

Beyond any count are the names (species) and beyond any count are palces (locations).

After reading Gurbani, No one can say there is anything like JOONA as mention in other faihts.
      Please refer to

The air mixed with air, The light (life) went back to light (life), Dirt (body made up of elements) became dirt agaun, so what is basis / reason for crying?
      ……………………………………………………………………
Nanak claims that supperstition is unlifted neither has anyone died nor have anyonecome or gone.
      (Reincarnation rejected)
