how can teenage stop attraction towards boys or is it normal?
Respected Brother/Sister,
Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh!
In response to your question about teenage girls developing attraction towards boys, the undersigned is of the opinion that the training of the girls need to start early in life so that they get attached with Shabad Guru’s teachings, instead of developing attraction towards boys.
At Pannas 1159-60 of Guru Granth Sahib, Bhagat Kabir ji in his Shabad is guiding us:
Further, the undersigned wants to quote a Salok of Fifth Guru Person Guru Arjan Sahib, from Salok Sehaskriti Mehalla 5, in which Guru Sahib is addressing the problem of lust, results of indulging in it and also giving guidance to get rid of it, by building a strong character:
ਹੇ ਕਾਮੰ ਨਰਕ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮੰ ਬਹੁ ਜੋਨੀ ਭ੍ਰਮਾਵਣਹ ॥ ਚਿਤ ਹਰਣੰ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਲੋਕ ਗੰਮ੍ਯ੍ਯੰ ਜਪ ਤਪ ਸੀਲ ਬਿਦਾਰਣਹ ॥ ਅਲਪ ਸੁਖ ਅਵਿਤ ਚੰਚਲ ਊਚ ਨੀਚ ਸਮਾਵਣਹ ॥ ਤਵ ਭੈ ਬਿਮੁੰਚਿਤ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਮ ਓਟ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਰਾਇਣਹ ॥੪੬॥ {ਪੰਨਾ 1358}
As taught in Gurbani, the goal of a person/Sikh’s life should be to get rid of vices, become a righteous/ virtuous person (Gurmukh), be one with Akalpurakh and Shabad Guru, who are spiritually embodiment of each other and achieve the stage of spiritual equipoise and spiritual bliss. The final goal is to achieve spiritual emancipation/salvation in this life itself because there is no concept of emancipation/ salvation, after death in Sikhism.
Therefore, in Sikhism, keeping control on lust is very much necessary and the training of the young girl needs to start very early in life.
Hope it helps. If you have any further questions, please do ask. If you find any deficiencies, please point out the same, for improvement in future.
Regards,
Your Brother
i believe attraction is natural.
but the point is to not let it overpower us.
Example :
Person is attracted to someone. but that someone should not occupy their mind other than when the said someone is around.
I believe if we can control that, we can conquer kaam.
Also, i think the attraction is also part of that teenage/ youngster energy. you should keep your mind busy.
pick up a hobby like learning an instrument, painting, cooking, problem solving etc.
as long as that energy is diverted and utilized properly, i believe kaam will not overpower.
Getting attracted to the opposite sex is very normal, and it is controlled by hormones. Nature/ creator has established this system for the propagation of the populations. This is a part of life, but not everything in life. The main goal of life is to connect with the creator, dissolve the Haumai, and serve the creation of the creator. If one develops a relationship with another person and two people help each other achieve this goal, then this relationship is rewarding, and if not, then it is futile. One should focus one’s energy on the Divine connection, uplifting oneself from the materialistic world to achieve an elevated state of mind to lead an enlightened and successful life.
