Arta Bhagat Dhanna ji

In response to your question, the undersigned wants to say that the Tuk in which Bhagat Dhanna ji has used the word Aarta, is in Raag Dhanasri and is located at Panna 695 of Guru Granth Sahib. The Tuk and its meanings are given below:-

ਧੰਨਾ ॥ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਰਤਾ ॥ ਜੋ ਜਨ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੰਤੇ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਕਾਜ ਸਵਾਰਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ (ਪੰਨਾ 695)
ਪਦਅਰਥ: ਆਰਤਾ = ਲੋੜਵੰਦਾ, ਦੁਖੀਆ, ਮੰਗਤਾ ।।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਵੀ ਦੇ ਪਾਲਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਦਾ ਮੰਗਤਾ ਹਾਂ (ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਲੋੜਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਕਰ) ; ਜੋ ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਿਰੇ ਚਾੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈਂ।।੧।।ਰਹਾਉ।।

You can see that the word Aarta has altogether different meanings, as compared to the word Aarti, and thus Aarta and Aarti are totally different, though the Sikhs read this Tuk of Bhagat Dhanna ji also, while reading the Shabad of Guru Nanak Sahib, about Aarti, in Raag Dhanasri and other Tuks containing the word Aarti.

Though on the face of it, literally it appears that Bhagat Dhanna ji is requesting Akalpurakh to fulfill his needs and is also motivating others to do Bhagati because Akalpurakh fulfills the needs of those, who do Bhagati.

However, since Akalpurakh fulfills, even the needs of those, who don’t do Bhagati, therefore, as understood by the undersigned, Bhagat Dhanna ji is teaching us to do Bhagati with humility, in our mind. In other words, he is guiding us to get rid of the ego and seek blessings to become one with Akalpurakh.
