Gurmat preaches everything in moderation. Diet plan or dieting is not bad but eating in moderation is the best. Eating should not become aRas (Pleasurable addiction) as per Shabd
AGGS15
Ras Suena Ras Rupa Kaman Ras Paramal Ki Vas || Ras Ghorre Ras Seja Mandar Ras Mitha Ras Mas || Ete Ras Sarir Ke Kai Ghat Naam Nivas||2||
The pleasures of gold and silver, women, fragrance of sandalwood, The pleasure of horses, the pleasure of a soft bed in a palace, the pleasure of sweet treats and the pleasure of hearty meals of meat-these pleasures of the human body are so numerous; how can the Virtues of the God (Naam), find its dwelling in the mind (Mann)? Guru is not stopping us from pleasures of life but always thinking of them and having ardent desires of them including eating meat is bad because then we forget God. Instead of thinking of God in our mind (Mann) we are always thinking in our mind (Mann) of these pleasures. Using them in moderation is not bad.
Thank you
According to Gurmat physical and mental health is of prime importance.
We should not go for the public propaganda. We must scientifically analyse what is good for our health. Best is to have balanced diet. Fresh and unprocessed food is good for health.
Processed foods being advertised these days will be harmful in the long run.
Instead of going for dieting, better to take slightly less than what is required. Longer gaps can cause other problems.
