The Akal Takht has banned taking the saroop (Scripture) of Guru Granth Sahib Ji to marriage halls, hotels, resorts, beaches, or any, such commercial venues for Anand Karaj. This directive strictly mandates that the marriage ceremony must take place in a Gurdwara, emphasizing the sanctity of the ritual over modern, “destination wedding” trends.
Key Details on the Ban:
Prohibited Venues: The ban covers banquet halls, hotels, resorts, farmhouses, and parks, as these locations often lack the proper environment required for maintaining the respect and maryada (protocol) of the Guru Granth Sahib.
Strict Compliance: The Five Singh Sahiban have instructed that no Saroop should be taken to these, or any, non-Gurdwara, venues for, Anand Karaj.
Action Against Violations: The decree warns that strict Panthic action will be taken against those who facilitate this, including granthis, ragis, and management committees.
The Anand Karaj should be held in a proper Gurdwara setting.
