We elders should realize that SIKH YOUTH of today do not like putting any restrictions on them. All they want to know how to be a good, compassionate human being and learn to live truthful life. They do not like to be told to do NIT NEM, PATH, keep long hair, wear turban or go to GURDWARA regularly and so on. These restrictions are pushing them away from SIKHI WAY OF LIFE. Let us guide them to be good human beings. Let it be their personal choice to keep hair or take AMRIT and so on..

There is little difference between a person trying to imbibe teachings of Gurbani, and a baptised Amritdhari. Generally, a baptised Khalsa is observed to be more egoistic, which is contrary to the teachings of Nankean Philosophy.

Basically you are required to abide by the Laws of Nature of being truthful, without any fears, be fair and be able to discern between good and bad , and finally retain what Nature has ordained to you, ie your hair.

All these confusions are self created.

According to Guru Granth Sahib Amrit is Har Ka Naam, which we can obtain with the help of Gurbani only.
      ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਤੁ ਪੀਤੈ ਤਿਖ ਜਾਇ ॥- 1283

The tradition is Khande Ke Pahul, which people have coined there days as Amrit. This is an admission in Guru Ghar. Our commitment to the Guru that we will follow the teachings of Guru Granth Sahib.

Just by taking the admission, one can not claim the degree. For getting any degree one has to work hard and put all sorts of efforts.

Every body claims himself to be true and follower of Guru. Unless we put ourselves to the test. How can we know the reality?
Best method of testing is that we study each and every sentence of Guru Granth Sahib and ask ourselves how much we are understanding and following.

Every body claims that he is doing Seva. But rarely anyone knows that real Seva according to Guru Granth Sahib is Shabad Vichar.

Amritdhari person follows a disciplined life. He/she follows the discipline of Nitnem. The idea is to get closer to the universal truth, follow the principle of oneness and see life from a different perspective other than seen by a worldly individual. In my opinion, if an individual understands Gurbani and lives life according to Gurmat then the purpose is being served.
