On many occasions I recall memories of of trips to Panjab.
I remember my parents and grandparents having a Akaand path at home.
Now the things that I found extremely odd from teen years
Samgiri being lit
incense lit
jot lit
Water put in a vessel
coconut wrapped in a red cloth
on top of that very demanding Pathi Singh’s
who wanted clothes & Money for reading the SGGS. On top of that being very demanding to toward the family.
When I question my elders I was told to be silent as I had no knowledge.Surely this was bullying.
Now when I’m grown up I have never seen this happening at any Gurdwara Sahib.
When I think back about those times it all seems confusing.
Please explain are these types of rituals allowed or permitted in Sikhism?

No, these type of rituals are not permitted in Sikhism.
According to Gurbani:
Meaning hope and desires are entrapments.Religious Rituals are traps.
Meaning those people may perform all sort of religious rituals and good actions, but all of this without the good virtues and divine values, the egoistical ones are cursed and doomed.
I request that do read the SGGS Ji by yourself, understand it’s meanings, and follow them as well.
Great answer Bhen ji????
