In response to your question, the undersigned wants to say that as per teachings of Guru Granth Sahib, Akalpurakh lives in every living being, as what we call ‘Atma’ and with the strength given by Him, the body functions. As soon as the strength is withdrawn, the physical death takes place and the five elements, of which the body is composed of, merge with the five elements and the Atma merges with Akalpurakh. Thus, nothing is left. No one knows as to what happens to Atma after that.
Please read the following Stanza of a Shabad of Fourth Guru Person, Guru Ramdas Sahib, in which he is guiding us that Akalpurakh is all pervasive i.e. everywhere in water, earth and every living being:-
ਹਰਿ ਘਟਿ ਘਟੇ ਘਟਿ ਬਸਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਲਿ ਥਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਬਸਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਥਾਨ ਥਾਨੰਤਰਿ ਬਸਤਾ ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਖਨ ਕੋ ਚਾਓੁ ॥ ਕੋਈ ਆਵੈ ਸੰਤੋ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਜਨੁ ਸੰਤੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਜਨੁ ਸੰਤੋ ਮੋਹਿ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਦਿਖਲਾਵੈ ॥ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੇ ਹਉ ਮਲਿ ਮਲਿ ਧੋਵਾ ਪਾਓੁ ॥੧॥ (ਪੰਨਾ 1201)
ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਉਹ ਹਰੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਲ ਵਿਚ ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹਰੇਕ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਦੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਸੰਤ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆ ਮਿਲੇ, ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਸੰਤ ਆ ਮਿਲੇ, ਕੋਈ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆ ਮਿਲੇ, ਤੇ, ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ) ਰਾਹ ਵਿਖਾ ਜਾਏ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੈਰ ਮਲ ਮਲ ਕੇ ਧੋਵਾਂ।1।
This above teaching is universally applicable to all and no distinction is made, in respect of sinners or anyone else. Those who commit sins, suffer during their life time itself, because the Gurbani teaches us ‘As you sow, so shall you reap.’

The undersigned further wants to request you to please read the following Pauri and its meanings. There are more Shabads on the subject in Guru Granth Sahib. It is very clear that Akalpurakh takes full care of us and doesn’t even remember our shortcomings, what to say of our sins:-
ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਪਿਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਕ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਾਰ ਕਰੇ ਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਬਾਲਕ ॥ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਖਿਲਾਇਦਾ ਨਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਆਲਕ ॥ ਅਉਗਣੁ ਕੋ ਨ ਚਿਤਾਰਦਾ ਗਲ ਸੇਤੀ ਲਾਇਕ ॥ ਮੁਹਿ ਮੰਗਾਂ ਸੋਈ ਦੇਵਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਇਕ ॥ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਰਾਸਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਨੁ ਸਉਪਿਓਨੁ ਇਸੁ ਸਉਦੇ ਲਾਇਕ ॥ ਸਾਝੀ ਗੁਰ ਨਾਲਿ ਬਹਾਲਿਆ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇਕ ॥ ਮੈ ਨਾਲਹੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਵਿਛੁੜੈ ਹਰਿ ਪਿਤਾ ਸਭਨਾ ਗਲਾ ਲਾਇਕ ॥੨੧॥ {ਪੰਨਾ 1101}
ਅਰਥ: ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਾਤਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਹੈ (ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਪਾਲਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਸੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰੀ ਅਡੋਲ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾ ਕੇ ਜੀਵਨ-ਖੇਡ ਖਿਡਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਗੱਲੋਂ ਰਤਾ ਭੀ) ਆਲਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ। ਮੇਰੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਔਗੁਣ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਖਦਾ, (ਸਦਾ) ਆਪਣੇ ਗਲ ਨਾਲ (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਲਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਮੈਂ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਖ-ਦਾਈ ਪਿਤਾ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਹੀ ਉਹੀ ਦੇ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਦੀ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਸੌਂਪ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸੌਦਾ ਵਿਹਾਝਣ ਦੇ ਲਾਇਕ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਭਾਈਵਾਲ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, (ਹੁਣ) ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਮੇਰੇ ਦਾਸ ਬਣ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਤਾ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵਿਛੁੜਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੈ। 21।
Therefore, He has no system of giving punishment to His children for their mistakes/ shortcomings or sins. Please read this also:-
ਜੈਸਾ ਬਾਲਕੁ ਭਾਇ ਸੁਭਾਈ ਲਖ ਅਪਰਾਧ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥ ਕਰਿ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਝਿੜਕੇ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤੀ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਪਿਤਾ ਗਲਿ ਲਾਵੈ ॥ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਅਉਗੁਣ ਬਖਸਿ ਲਏ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਗੈ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੨॥
ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਬੱਚਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਲਗਨ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਸੁਭਾਵ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਗ਼ਲਤੀਆਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਿਉ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦੇ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਕਈ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਝਿੜਕਦਾ ਭੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਫਿਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਗਲ ਨਾਲ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਿਤਾ ਭੀ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਗੁਨਾਹ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਅਗਾਂਹ ਵਾਸਤੇ (ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ) ਠੀਕ ਰਸਤੇ ਉਤੇ ਪਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।
So, please get rid of any thoughts that Akalpurakh gives punishment for any one’s mistakes/shortcomings or sins. Only thing is that one suffers during life time itself for his/her wrongs/sins.
Further, one has to change life, get rid of vices, live a disciplined life, become a righteous person, be one with Akalpurakh and Shabad Guru, who are embodiment of each other, so as to achieve the stage of spiritual equipoise and bliss. Final goal is to achieve emancipation/salvation during this life time.
