According to Gurbani, when read alongside “Shabad bin tudh hor je mangna, sir dukha ke dukh,” the phrase “mann chindiā phal pāe” cannot mean fulfillment of worldly or ego-driven desires.
Instead, it refers to the fruition of the transformed Gurmukh mind, whose deepest longing is no longer external gain but freedom from illusion, ego, and suffering. Through the Guru’s Shabad, the mind itself changes, and its true desire inner liberation, steadiness, and Anand are fulfilled. Thus, “mann chindiā phal” signifies realization through Shabad, not gratification of haumai.

      Respected Brother/Sister,

Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji Ki Fateh!

In response to your question the undersigned want to say that the words ‘ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦਿਆ ਫਲੁ’ ਅਤੇ ‘ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦਿਅੜਾ ਫਲੁ’ has come in Gurbani many times. Both the Saloks, quoted by you, and their meanings are given below, for ready reference.

As understood by the undersigned, to reach the stage of getting ‘ਮਨੁ ਚਿੰਦਿਆ ਫਲੁ’ or ‘ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦਿਅੜਾ ਫਲੁ’, a person will have to change his life, get rid of vices and become righteous/virtuous (Gurmukh). This will enable him to become one with Akalpurakh and Shabad Guru, who are spiritually embodiment of each other and achieve the state of spiritual equipoise (ਆਤਮਿਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ) and spiritual bliss (ਆਤਮਿਕ ਆਨੰਦ). The final goal is to achieve spiritual emancipation/salvation in this life itself.

At this stage, the mind will be in ‘Complete Santokh (Total Satisfaction)’ and no demands will be left. One will be satisfied with whatever He gives in His Hukam. This, however, doesn’t mean that the person will stop making any efforts in his life. He will make his sincere and dedicated efforts but will be happy and satisfied with whatever he gets in return and will have no grudges or complaints or demands i.e. freedom from wants, of more and more.

Hope this helps. If you have any further questions, please do ask. If you find any deficiencies, please point out the same, for improvement in future.

      Regards,

      Your Brother

To ask for material things is to ask for suffering, as nothing is permanent in this world. We need to ask for the acceptance of the flow of life ( Hukam) and Naam ( comprehension of the omnipresence of the Divine and the attainment of Divine qualities). Living in this materialistic world with divine qualities will bring inner peace and freedom from illusions of the materialistic life.
