      As understood by the undersigned, the real love, according to Gurbani, is being one with Akalpurakh and Shabad Guru, who are spiritually embodiment of each other.

      ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੪ ॥ ਮੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਪਿਰੰਮ ਕਾ ਅਠੇ ਪਹਰ ਲਗੰਨਿ ॥ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੁਖਿ ਵਸੰਨਿ ॥੧॥ {ਪੰਨਾ 301}

      ਅਰਥ: (ਮਨ ਲੋਚਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਿਰ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਣ (ਭਾਵ, ਗੁਜ਼ਰ ਜਾਣ) (ਪਰ) ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਤੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ (ਲੱਗਾ ਰਹੇ, ਭਾਵ, ਨਾ ਮੁੱਕੇ) (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ) ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਤੇ ਹਰੀ (ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ) ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ (ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੇ ਹੋਏ) ਸੁਖ ਵਿਚ (ਸਦਾ) ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ।1।

      According to my understanding, the real love, according to Gurbani, is the true connection and the realization of the Divine in one’s life, and comprehending oneself as a part of the Divine. Real love is treading this unique path of life with Divine perspective in mind, and it can be achieved by developing love for the Shabad Guru. This beautiful internal journey is the true destination.
