Yes, being born in a Sikh home, they are Sikhs but according to the Sikh Rehat Maryada (which every Sikh should follow), hair is a very important part of our religion because. This symbolizes the fact that Sikhs live a natural life. But the choice is their own. I would love to suggest, that they do the Paath with the meanings and read our golden history of Bhai Taru Singh Ji. Then they themselves will decide that are they a Sikh who cut their hair or the ones who are solely committed to being a Sikh.

The following is the basis principle of Gurmat.

      ਹੁਕਮਿ ਰਜਾਈ ਚਲਣਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਨਾਲਿ ॥੧॥ Jap – 1

One has to understand and follow the Hukam of Akal Purkh, both physically and mentally.

It is very easy to follow physically, but lot of efforts are required to follow mentally.
If a person can not control himself physically, then how can he control himself mentally.

Hair grow and follow the laws of nature. They are also part of our body.
