A friend of mine is a Sikh and an atheist. His friends are atheists and Sikhs too. My question is can a Sikh be an atheist?

This is a complex question need complex answer. Who is ATHEIST, one who does not believe in the existence of deity or god. How we define deity or god. It is hypothetical supernatural external BEING. Today over one billion people reject the existence of such supernatural external GOD. We call them ATHEISTS. To date the biggest weakness of organized religion is that they have not provided a logical, reason based explanation as to the existence such GOD. Therefore people do not believe in the existence of this GOD. There is no ATHEIST in the spiritual philosophy of GURU NANAK. The GOD of NANAK is SHABAD, BANI, DIVINE WISDOM, SPIRIT OF ENLIGHTENMENT that exist within each one of us. MANN TU JOYT SAROOP HAI meaning we all are reflection of SHABAD GURU, GOD. Those SIKHS who call themselves ATHEISTS is out of ignorance of spiritual philosophy of NANAK. No one is ATHEISTS IN THE HOUSE OF NANAK.
No you can’t be a Sikh and atheist as atheist’s believe there is no God whereas Sikhi (Sikhism) is all about one God.
