ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਲੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਖਾਲਸਾ-ਪੰਥ ਸਿਰਫ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਆਚਰਣ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਰੱਬੀ ਮੇਲ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਿਖਾਉਂਦਾ ਸਗੋ ਸਮਾਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਚਰਦਿਆਂ ਆਨੰਦਮਈ ਜੀਵਨ ਜਿਉਣ ਲਈ ਆਰਥਿਕ, ਰਾਜਨੀਤਕ, ਸਮਾਜਿਕ, ਸਿਹਤ ਸਮੇਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਪੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਵੀ ਮਾਰਗ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। 1699 ਵਿੱਚ ਖਾਲਸਾ-ਪੰਥ ਦੀ ਸੰਪੂਰਨਤਾ ਇਕ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਕਰਾਂਤੀ ਵੀ ਸੀ। ਅਗਲੇ 5, 10, 50 ਸਾਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿੱਖੀ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਧਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਕੀ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ? (3) ਰਾਜਨੀਤਕ ਪੱਖ: ਆਗੂ ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੋਵੇ? Gurmat not only teaches the art of living a blissful life by building human behavior but also guides about all aspects including economic, political, social, health etc while living in the society. Completion of Khalsa-Panth in 1699 was a social revolution. What should be done to enhance the development of Sikhism in the next 5, 10, 50 years and beyond: (3) Political Aspect: Qualities of a leader to be selected?

What should a leader be like?
The cause of all our problems is our ignorance. Guru Sahib has guided us in all aspects of economic, social, political, religious and health etc. in the path of Gurbani.
Let us all think about the selection of a leader from Gurumat’s point of view.
About people with greedy, thieving, adulterous, gambling and drug addict mentality, Guru Sahib said:

ਚੋਰ ਜਾਰ ਜੂਆਰ ਪੀੜੇ ਘਾਣੀਐ ॥
Meaning: Thieves, adulterers, gamblers have their mental state as if they are being tortured in Kohlu. By making such people leaders, it is futile to expect any public welfare from them.

ਅੰਧਾ ਆਗੂ ਜੇ ਥੀਐ ਕਿਉ ਪਾਧਰੁ ਜਾਣੈ  ॥
ਆਪਿ ਮੁਸੈ  ਮਤਿ ਹੋਛੀਐ ਕਿਉ ਰਾਹੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ  ॥
ਕਿਉ ਰਾਹਿ ਜਾਵੈ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਅੰਧ ਕੀ ਮਤਿ ਅੰਧਲੀ॥
ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਮ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਸੂਝੈ ਅੰਧੁ ਬੂਡੌ ਧੰਧਲੀ ॥
ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ਚਾਨਣੁ ਚਾਉ ਉਪਜੈ ਸਬਦੁ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ॥ ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਗੁਰ ਪਹਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਿਨੰਤੀ ਰਾਹੁ ਪਾਧਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਦਸੈ ॥੬॥
According to the meaning made by Professor Sahib Singh Ji: If the leader of a man becomes a man who himself is blinded by illusion, then he cannot understand the direct path of life-journey, because that leader is only of Hochhi Akal. The reason being robbed (by lustful vices) how can (even one walking under his guidance) find a way. A person who is blinded by maya-moh has his own intellect confused, he cannot walk on the right path by himself, and cannot find God’s standard; Being deprived of the name of God, he does not understand anything (about the right life), blinded by the love of maya, a man remains immersed in the running of maya. But the person whose mind dwells in the Guru’s word, the light of Naam remains in his heart day and night, the enthusiasm (of service-meditation) is generated within him. He keeps praying to the Guru with folded hands because the Guru tells him the straight path of life. 6.

And thus as a perfect leader the Guru guides how:
(1) One should chant the name : to control the vices, to absorb the virtues in one’s inner personality, to build one’s conduct and to reconcile with God, . Guru Sahib kindly teaches this art :
How to change?
= lust in love
= Anger in Bir Rasa (struggle against injustice, oppression),
=greed in contentment
= Moh in Love for the good of all human community
= pride in humility/godliness in self-esteem
How to be free from vices?
Vices like slander, gossip, laziness, lying, dominating others, theft, duplicity/hypocrisy, discrimination based on caste/race/colour/sex, jealousy, ignorance, addiction to alcohol and other drugs, cowardice, cheating, cheating, gambling, greed , taking away the rights of others, cruelty, indifference and many other vices.

What qualities to imbibe in your inner character? Qualities like truth, equality, creativity, fearlessness, selflessness, contentment, service, sharing, human brotherhood, kindness, sweet speaking, humility, kindness and many other qualities that we can make our life enjoyable from Gurbani.

(2) To work to meet one’s economic needs.
(3) To help the needy.

ਘਾਲਿ ਖਾਇ  ਕਿਛੁ ਹਥਹੁ ਦੇਇ ॥
ਨਾਨਕ  ਰਾਹੁ ਪਛਾਣਹਿ ਸੇਇ ॥੧॥
As per these directives of Gurbani,

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਤਿ ਸਰੂਪੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਬਣੀਐ ।।
by giving equal importance to the three rings of the chain of three golden principles of Naam Japo, Kirat Karo and Vand Shako, let acquire the qualities of a good leader under the guidance of the Guru. Leaders are not meant to suppress others for dominance, but to become guides of all humanity by learning the teachings of the Guru. Guru Sahib’s philosophy is for all so-called castes, religions, races, cultures. By adopting it, the whole world can become one family where the mutual boundaries of different regions can disappear, all humanity can live a blissful life. All Gurmukhs are requested to give their opinion based on logic whether Gurmat philosophy is against any race, class, tribe, culture or economic system? Then why its opposition? Perhaps the Gurmat philosophy has not reached the opposing people in the right sense, let us also consider this. Baba Nanak ji, by traveling to almost all the inhabited regions of the earth at that time, gave the wisdom of divine laws to humanity. Being the Guru’s guide, let us convey that message to humanity.
